No record exists as to why this suburb was so named. The common white gum of the Darling Range does not grow in this area, although it is possible some Maiden Gums (Eucalyptus Lane-Poolei, known as salmon white gums) grew in the area.
Regardless of its origins, the name has a feel of a peaceful and tree lined valley. That is exactly what it is like which makes this suburb even more attractive for those wanting an oasis within the concrete jungle. With roughly 1,500 homes and businesses in White Gum Valley, this is a tight knit community where neighbours are friendly, the little parks are always filled with families and roads are never really busy.

White Gum Valley in my opinion is an underrated suburb with wonderful homes from turn of the century heritage beauties to eco-friendly like retreats to modern masterpieces.
White Gum Valley has performed with a 9.5% averaged median yearly growth over the last five years and is tightly kept with just over four homes a month selling (REIWA March QTR stats).
Situated 15km from the Perth City and bordering with Fremantle it is only a few kilometres to the ocean or river, making it a suburb to consider for anyone wanting to buy or rent.
